Summer nights under the stars have never sounded better…
DO your ears a favour this summer and make sure you head down to Sidney Myer Music Bowl this Feb for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s Free Concerts.
As per the above, it’s free. And free is always good because the ROI usually goes down a treat.
The first of the three concerts kicks off on Feb 9 with A Symphonic Soiree. Over approx. 2 hours you’ll be served up works from Ravel, Hyde and Franck with a world premiere by Bianca Gannon featuring Indonesian instruments.
You can then back it up with some absolute classics on Feb 12 with An Evening of John Williams. Celebrating John’s 90th birthday, he’ll showcase a selection of his greatest and most recognisable hits from Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Schindler’s List, Jurassic Park and more. Bookmark this one.
The free series then wraps up on February 19 with One Song: The Music of Archie Roach. MSO Composer in Residence Paul Grabowsky AO works alongside the great Archie Roach to showcase a Big Idea: that we have mapped our journey as human beings across the oceans and lands of the world through song.
Join MSO’s free concert series for one, two, or three nights and lap it all up with some mates under the stars. Even if you’re not into classic musical, you’ll be surprised at how enjoyable it can be. Just do it!
