Mat’s Hot Shop in Collingwood has long been an institution for hot sauce connoisseurs but the previously online only store is now about to open its doors for some freakishly hot tasting sessions!
From Saturday the 6th of November, you’ll be able to waltz down and get a true insight into how heat profiles work and the versatility of hot sauce from none other than Mat Garthwaite himself.
Mat launched the brand online in 2019 and carries up to 150 hot sauces from across the world including the US, Mexico, Chile, Canada and Fiji. But there’s also a growing local scene which Mat will be happy to walk you through.
Now, if you want your head blown off with heat, that can happen. But hot sauce isn’t all about those Youtube videos you see where the poor soul ends up crying and necking a gallon of milk after some chilli challenge. But hey, if you’re game for that, go all in. This is more your educational insight into how flavours work and a try before you buy kinda experience as the tasting room is a free. But we trust you’ll be walking out of there with plenty of bottles!
