Eight limbs. That’s because there are kicks, punches, knees, and elbows coming left, right and centre and you can get the low down through Absolute Mixed Martial Arts Muay Thai Classes!

I used to live in Thailand and still remember seeing young kids out running at the crack of dawn, busting themselves silly to prepare for a career in Muay Thai. Nuts. Meanwhile back in Aus they are training their thumbs on an iPhone.

It is hands down one of the most effective and devastating striking arts in the world. Muay Thai is an extremely challenging physical workout to hone your balance, speed & power  and can be practiced for the competitive arena, self defence or even just fun and fitness.

Absolute Muay Thai Classes can be taken at three different locations across Melbourne from the CBD to Collingwood and St Kilda.

Whether you’re a complete newbie or an experienced fighter, their programs cater for all experience levels and you’ll be guided by some of Australia’s most experienced and respected coaches!

When coach Laos “The Asian Bull” Toohey asks you to do something. You do it.

A typical class will start with 10 to 15 minutes of warm ups involving skipping, plyometrics and conditioning followed by a few rounds of shadow boxing.

Your coach will then develop your skills with any number of training exercises including pad work, bag work, technical drills with partners and more. The content of the class will vary from week to week, keeping the class fresh like Thai Basil and focusing on all aspects of Muay Thai.

From there, there’s no limits and you can work your way up to Advanced classes and even the possibility of competing. Maybe a trip to Thailand is on the cards in the post Covid world?
