Let’s seas the day!
The first rule of sailing is to have fun. In my opinion the second rule is to not sink and who better to tick both those boxes than the team down at Yachtmaster!
Some of us (I’m looking in the mirror) are like a duck out of water when it comes to sailing. But you never know when you’re going to need to save yourself like Tom Hanks in Cast Away and set sail for home.
Yachtmaster Sailing School run two-day Introductory Courses here in Melbourne but spots are filling up fast! It’s the perfect way for someone with little to no experience to dip their toes in the water and grasp the basics before moving onto their intermediate course options.
What can you expect on the first two days? You’ll be guided by a team of highly experienced instructors on safety, helming and the rules of the road, sail handling, nautical terms, rope work, gybing, tacking, close reaching along with skippering, sail trim and man overboard measures.
Running across two days from 9:30am – 4:30pm, the classes are held on the water almost many weekends of the year but make sure you book early as they are booked out until June.
After completing the Introductory Course, you’ll be well on your way to becoming an actual Yacht Master and can progress through a host of additional courses that ultimately prepare you to charter.
This one is perfect with a group of friends because who doesn’t love being out on the water and shouting “I’m on a boat!”
